Famous Classical Music Composers

Classical music is enjoyed by many, and with composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, this type of music is known throughout the world. Even to this day, their music is played and valued. The characteristics of classical music include envoking emotion and connecting people with a variety of instruments. 

Ludwig van Beethoven

Ludwig van Beethoven was born in a place called Bonn in Germany in 1770. He is known for a variety of creations, including Symphony No.5 and 'Moonlight' Sonata, which are still cherished today. Beethoven is regarded as one of the best composers of all time, especially due to him gradually loosing his hearing which resulted in him becoming deaf. Throughout this, he continued to create classical music, where he focussed on the internal sounds which led to many masterpieces. His music connects with many people and provokes emotion. 

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is known for his elegant music which continues to be played due to its technical prowess and how it connect on an emotional level with people. He begun his classical journey from a young age and continued throughout his life, making classical music appealing to many. 

Johann Sebastian Bach

Johann Sebastian Bach played a key role in shaping classical music throughout his career, where he had a great influence on Western music and encouraged other musicians. He was born in Eisenach, Germany, in 1685 and produced many well-known compositions. He was known for creating harmonious classical music due to the harmonies that he executed and the technical achievement.  

Frederic Chopin

Frederic Chopin is a world-renowned composer from Poland. He played the piano, and his music was praised for its calming harmonies and show of personal expression. He was born in Żelazowa Wola in Poland in 1810 and had the ability to connect to people through his music. 

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Born in Votkinsk, Russia, in 1840, Tchaikovsky's compositions were renowned for their beautiful harmonies, and sweeping melodies. He is regarded as a legend in classical music due to his compositions being played within ballet performances such as 'Swan Lake.' His music is able to alight emotion within people and bring them a range of emotions from happiness to sadness. 

Franz Schubert

Franz Schubert is another composer who captured the world with his creations. He was born in Vienna in 1797, and produced music which had a strong emotional feel along with harmonious melodies. One of Schubert's most famous pieces is 'Ave Maria' which is appreciated worldwide, and is still played by people. 

Antonio Vivaldi

A well-loved classical music mastermind who captivated his audience and gained many followers of his music. He was born in Venice in 1678, and his violin playing gained popularity throughout the world. His music contains beautiful melodies and strong technical skills, and he is able to convey a range of emotions to his listeners. He was the driving force behind the popularity of the concerto form due to his portrayal of stories through his music. One of his most famous pieces was when he produced a concert that had four violins, each highlighting a different season. This created a sound that was wonderful, and people enjoyed listening to it.  

Clara Schumann

Clara Schumann was a remarkable female composer who was born in Leipzig, Germany, in 1819. She was praised for her musical pieces, which were created using a piano, and her courage in pushing through social barriers due to her being female in a male-dominated industry. At the time, women had limited opportunities, such as within educational settings, and it was also believed at the time that women would not be able to compose music to the standard of which a man would.   

The Legacy of Classical Music Composers

All of the composers mentioned above had a pivotal role in making classical music what it is today and the influence it has had for generations. Composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Vivaldi are still prominent in classical music and have been key to placing classical music within society. Their work inspires new musicians and shapes how classical music will evolve over time. Clara Schumann is not only known for her compositions but also has earned her place in history within this musical genre.
